ICTS Pre-doctoral TL-1 Scholars Training Program

The UC Irvine Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) is pleased to announce the continuation of our NIH-funded pre-doctoral (TL-1) training program. The "Crossing Boundaries" training program is designed to integrate training in clinical research and translational science into the core curriculum of students in medicine, public health, nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical and social sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and informatics.

We are now inviting applications for one pre-doctoral ICTS TL-1 Scholar. Scholars are expected to fully engage with the mentoring and academic monitoring opportunities provided by the ICTS and will receive a stipend, fees and tuition, and research and travel funds from the ICTS.

Applicants should be currently enrolled in either the M.D. or Ph.D. degree programs. Medical students will be required to devote a year fully to mentored translational research, extending the duration of their M.D. degree experience by a year during which they may pursue a master's degree or certificate program in an area relevant to the mission of ICTS.

Each pre-MD trainee will be eligible for tuition and fees remission up to $21,000 and pre-PhD trainee will be eligible for up to $16,000 in tuition and fees. In addition, each pre-doctoral trainee will receive up to $20,772 in stipend, $1,000 for travel support, and up to $4,200 in trainee related expenses.
