Building Sustainable Community-Linked Infrastructure to Enable Health Science Research

The Orange County Alliance for Community Health Research (OCACHR) represents an exciting academic-community partnership opportunity that will build upon strong collaborative relationships to improve the way health research is conducted in Orange County.

The mission of the OCACHR is to improve the health and well-being of Orange County’s diverse population through collaborative research and by supporting sustainable research and dissemination of evidence-based best practices to inform local health decisions.

The OCACHR will:

  • Create a web-based portal to provide important health data and research to our community
  • Provide technical assistance, networking, training and mentoring opportunities among university faculty (UCI and Cal State Fullerton) and community based organizations
  • Provide training in community-based participatory research (CBPR) to empower community agencies and university researchers to work together in developing and implementing research projects
  • Lead community health collaborative workshops toward the development of an academic-community partnered health agenda and research projects

The OCACHR provides the opportunity to improve utilization of health data to develop evidence-based community research priorities, and increase community research capacity to engage in community-based participatory research. Through the OCACHR, community and academic partners will collaborate to identify the priority heath research issues of the county and develop a joint health research agenda and projects targeting those health concerns.
