Short Course for UCI Faculty, Staff, & Students
INTRODUCTION TO LINEAR AND LOGISTIC REGRESSION MODELS FOR MEDICAL RESEARCHERS
Monday, May 6, 2013 and Tuesday, May 7, 2013
The UCI Institute for Clinical & Translational Science (ICTS) is offering this two-day course on Monday, May 6, and Tuesday May 7. The course will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room CS 432 of the Computer Science Building (302).
Course Description: This is an introductory course to regression analysis. More specifically, we will discuss linear regression models for continuous outcome variables (e.g., blood pressure) and logistic regression models for binary outcome variables (e.g., cancer vs. non-cancer).
Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will have learned more about:
Introductory level statistics; basic computer skills
Biostatistics with R, An Introduction to Statistics Through Biological Data, Babak Shahbaba, Springer, 2012; available for download (free-of-charge) through the UCI library. We will also provide supplementary notes for logistic regression models.
Babak Shahbaba, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, UC Irvine Department of Statistics
Registration Fee The registration fee for UCI faculty, clinicians, and staff is $100.00; for UCI students it is $50.00. If space is available, non-UCI parties may register for a fee of $150.00.
