2016 Outstanding Community Research Award

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is pleased to announce the 2016 Outstanding Community Research Award Recipient. This award acknowledges community leaders who show commitment to incorporating principles of research and quality improvement in their efforts to address the health of the communities they serve. Awardees possess a research mindset in program development and embed research activities in their organizations to inform evidence-based practices.

 

Alyce Mastrianni

Ms. Mastrianni brings over 30 years of experience in community capacity building, health and human service policy analysis, collaborative planning, program design, quality management, fiscal management, and program operations including experience in city, county and private non-profit settings. In the pivotal role as Director of Program Development and Evaluation for the Children and Families Commission of Orange County, her expertise supported continual achievement of positive health outcomes for children by developing strategies and major projects based on sound, objective information. Alyce was instrumental in writing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) grant in collaboration with UCI's Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and other community entities, in acquiring UCI as a Vanguard site for the National Children's Study, and developing the grant applications for the Promise Neighborhoods Project and the California Endowment Building Healthy Communities Initiative. She led the NCS's Community Board to support community-engaged research and supported recruitment and retention of NCS families. Alyce was selected by the County of Orange as a "Woman of Achievement," received "Challenge Grant" recognition by the County Supervisors Association of California, and presented with the University of California, Irvine Chancellor's Award as the 2010 Community Health Research Advocate.
